Giclee Prints
Giclee (pronounced "gee-clay") is a French word that literally means "that which is sprayed." Giclee prints are sometimes mistakenly referred to as "Iris" prints that are 4-color inkjet prints from an earlier version of this kind of printer. Today, the term, giclee, has become synonymous with fine art inkjet printing. The quality of a giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries. Numerous examples of giclee prints can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries.
